Grass-fed beef tallow and a little organic castor oil, gently melted and poured into the jar so it sets firm and smooth. It's denser than our whipped Tallow Cream, so a small amount covers more: made for hands, heels, elbows, knees and anywhere skin runs dry. Made in small batches in Highland, NY, in the Hudson Valley.

What's in it

  • Grass-fed beef tallow — a rich, nourishing fat that moisturizes and softens skin.
  • Organic castor oil — helps the balm glide on once warmed.
  • Organic lavender or rosemary essential oil — scented jars only, at a light 0.5%.

No water, so no preservatives are needed. No beeswax, added fragrance or fillers.

Who it's for

Anyone whose hands, heels or elbows get rough and dry, especially in winter or after a lot of hand-washing. Unscented is the best choice for sensitive skin or anyone avoiding fragrance.

How to use

Scrape a little from the surface, warm it between your fingertips until it melts, and press it into clean skin. Great as a heavier layer at night.

Balm or cream?

The balm is firm and concentrated, for the driest spots. Our Grass-Fed Tallow Cream is whipped and light, the everyday pick for face and body.

FAQ

Does it smell like beef? Well-rendered tallow has very little scent. The unscented jar smells faintly mild; lavender and rosemary cover it.

Is it greasy? It's richer than the cream, so use a small amount and give it a few minutes to absorb. Patch-test first.

Is it okay for kids? Many families use the unscented jar. Patch-test first, and ask your pediatrician about infants or broken skin.

How should I store it? Keep it lidded and out of direct sun. Tallow softens above about 95°F and firms back up when it cools.

Ingredients: Tallow (Adeps Bovis), Organic Castor Oil (Ricinus Communis Seed Oil). Lavender adds Organic Lavender Oil (Lavandula Angustifolia Oil). Rosemary adds Organic Rosemary Oil (Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil).
